Mens Wedding Rings Perth
A wedding ring sits on a man’s finger for decades. It goes to work, to the gym, to the garden, to the beach, and through the thousand small moments that make up a life. The band has to earn that kind of wear.
We have been designing and making men’s wedding rings for Perth couples at our Mt Hawthorn studio since 2007. Our collection includes classic yellow and white gold bands, platinum options for couples who want everything matching, and harder-wearing alternatives in tantalum and titanium for clients whose hands go through more than most. We also make fully custom pieces when requested.
If you are shopping for both partners together, our Wedding Bands page covers our full range across men’s and women’s options.

The metal you choose shapes how the ring wears, how it ages, and what maintenance it needs across the years. A short, practical overview of the options we offer.
18-carat yellow gold. Warm, traditional, and the metal most couples default to for men’s rings. Available in polished, brushed, matte, or bark finishes. 18-carat is the durability sweet spot for daily wear.
18-carat white gold. The cooler sibling of yellow gold. Needs rhodium re-plating every three to five years to maintain the bright white finish. Paired most often with a white gold or platinum engagement ring on the partner’s hand.
18-carat rose gold. Warmer than yellow, with a soft pink tone from added copper. Looks distinctive on most skin tones and has become more popular in men’s rings over the past five years.
Platinum. Denser and heavier than gold, naturally white, and develops a soft patina with wear that most clients end up preferring to the mirror polish of a new ring. The premium option at the top of the range.
Tantalum. A rare, very hard metal with a gunmetal grey colour. Extremely scratch-resistant and almost impossible to bend. A growing favourite among tradespeople, surgeons, and anyone whose work punishes jewellery.
Titanium. Light, strong, and hypoallergenic. Sits at a lower price point than gold and platinum. Cannot be resized the way gold can, so sizing needs to be exact at order.
9-carat gold. Harder than 18-carat but with a paler yellow and less pure gold content. A sensible choice for clients working trades on a tighter budget.
Wedding Ring Styles We Make Most Often
A men’s wedding ring is usually defined by three things: width, profile, and finish. Most of the rings we make fall into one of these shapes.
- Classic flat bands at 4mm to 6mm in yellow or white gold, polished or brushed. The default for clients who want something timeless and low maintenance.
- Rounded or domed profiles for a softer feel on the finger. The more traditional silhouette.
- Bevelled edge bands that sit between the two, with a flat top and angled edges.
- Hammered or bark-finish bands for clients who want texture and appreciate that the finish hides scratches over time.
- Diamond-set men’s rings with flush-set or channel-set stones. Subtle extra detail without the visual weight of an engagement ring.
- Two-tone rings combining yellow and white gold, or gold and platinum, in a single piece.
Engraving inside the band is a common request. Dates, initials, coordinates, a phrase, usually carried out before final polish so the text sits cleanly in the metal.
Choosing The Right Ring For The Way You Live
The best men’s wedding rings are chosen with daily life in mind, not just aesthetic.
A few of the conversations we have across the bench:
- Work with your hands? Tantalum, titanium, or 9-carat gold. Avoid a high-polish platinum if daily wear will show scratches quickly.
- Work in healthcare or hospitality? Smooth, low-profile, no prongs, no raised stones. A brushed or matte finish hides fingerprints and minor scratches between wash-ups.
- Wear other rings, watches, or bracelets? Match metal colour if you want cohesion; contrast it if you want the wedding band to stand alone.
- Sensitive skin? Platinum, titanium, and tantalum are all hypoallergenic. Rose gold contains copper, which can irritate some wearers over time.
- Active outdoors? A thinner profile sits closer to the finger and catches less on equipment or climbing gear.
A Recent Men’s Band We Delivered
A chef who runs a restaurant in Leederville came to us last year to commission his wedding band before the ceremony at a property in the Perth Hills. His hands are in water, oil, salt, heat, and acid every day of the working week, and two previous silver bands had already failed him in the kitchen.
We built a 6mm tantalum ring with a deep matte finish, bevelled edges, and his partner’s first initial engraved inside. His wife had chosen an 18-carat yellow gold half-eternity band for herself, so the two rings did not match metal. Neither of them wanted them to. Her ring was fine jewellery. His was work equipment that also held meaning.
Six months on, his band still looks as it did on the day of the ceremony. Hers has picked up the soft wear of daily life. Both are doing the job they were built to do.
How The Custom Ring Process Runs
Our custom men’s wedding ring process runs across a few weeks.
- First meeting. We discuss style, width, finish, engraving, and most importantly how the ring needs to live. This can happen in the Mt Hawthorn studio or over a video call.
- Design and CAD render. For custom pieces, we produce a 3D model of the ring before any metal is cut.
- Silver prototype. Optional for most men’s bands, standard for complex designs. Worn for a day or two to confirm fit and feel.
- Casting and finishing. The ring is cast, polished to your chosen finish, engraved, and prepared for collection. Most commissions land between four and six weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
A few of the questions men ask us most often before choosing a wedding band.
What Is The Most Durable Metal For A Men’s Wedding Ring?
Tantalum is the most scratch-resistant mainstream option, followed by platinum, titanium, and 9-carat gold. 18-carat gold is softer but easier to polish back to new when scratches accumulate. The right choice depends on whether you prefer to avoid scratches in the first place, or be able to restore the ring over time.
Which Hand Does A Man Wear His Wedding Ring On?
In Australia, the left ring finger, fourth from the thumb. Some cultural traditions wear the ring on the right hand, and we see that fairly often across our clientele. Both are correct.
Can A Men’s Wedding Ring Be Resized Later?
Most gold and platinum rings can be resized up or down by one size without issue. Tantalum and titanium cannot be resized at all, so sizing needs to be exact at order. We measure twice at the studio and confirm fit before casting.
Do You Make Matching Sets For His And Hers Rings?
Yes. Our most common request is a matched pair in the same metal and finish, though some couples choose different metals that share a design cue such as engraving or surface texture. Our wedding bands page covers the full range.
What Should I Spend On A Men’s Wedding Ring?
Price depends on metal and design. A plain 18-carat gold band typically sits between $1,200 and $2,800. Tantalum and titanium bands start around $700. Platinum plain bands run from $2,200. A custom design or diamond-set ring lifts the total accordingly.
Can I Engrave Something Inside The Band?
Yes. Inside-band engraving is included at no extra cost on every commission. We engrave before final polish so the text sits cleanly, and we can engrave in any language, including Greek, which comes up more often than you might expect.
Come And See The Men’s Collection In Person
Men’s wedding rings are easier to decide with the metal in your hand than on a screen. Come in to our Mt Hawthorn studio. We will walk you through each metal, try different widths and profiles on your hand, and talk through how the ring needs to wear across your daily life.
If you are out of town, we run the same consultation over video and send sample bands by post so you can feel the metal before ordering.
